Benefits Manager — Plano, TX

Summary

The Benefits Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for managing and administering all health and welfare, and retirement plans for the company (i.e. medical, dental, vision, life, COBRA, 401K and LOA/FMLA/Workers’ Compensation leaves). This includes the daily administration of all employee benefit plans and maintaining relationships with benefit brokers, vendors, employees and other departments as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • This position will work directly with employees by coordinating and leading annual Open Enrollment, as well as monthly new hire enrollment
  • Work with the benefits broker to research, recommend and implement benefits initiatives aimed at strategically positioning the company to achieve cost containment in healthcare costs while attracting and retaining talent
  • Performs daily employee benefit processing such as enrollment changes, terminations, status changes, COBRA, claims, rollovers, etc.
  • Ensure governmental and legal requirements (5500 filings) & regulations are met as well as compliance with all company policies, procedures and communications (i.e. ERISA, IRS, DOL, FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.)
  • Will maintain employee benefit files, process invoices for payment, conduct audits and maintain a variety of reports
  • Administer LOA process through the LOA services vendor
  • Reviews legal plan documents, plan amendments, and carrier contracts and ensures compliance with company procedures and policy
  • Audits the accuracy and performance of outsourced 401(k) administration
  • Other duties/projects as assigned by SVP of HR

Qualifications (education, work experience, certifications, etc.):

  • Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Benefits role are required
  • Thorough knowledge of Affordable Care Act and current on other benefit-related employment laws
  • Successful candidates will also have a proven track record of strong interpersonal/customer service skills, presentation skills and excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time successfully is a must
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, advanced Excel skills required

Senior Accountant - Technical Accounting and Research — Plano, TX

Summary

Beal Bank, one of the most successful privately held banks in the country, is currently seeking qualified, high-energy candidates for a newly-created Senior Accountant - Technical Accounting and Research position.

This position is responsible for interpreting technical accounting literature, performing accounting research and advising on the accounting implications associated with the Company's business activities. In addition, this position is responsible for tracking accounting updates and assisting the accounting department through the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, including designing any necessary training due to the implementations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist AVP, Accounting with daily tracking and monitoring of interest rate caps for accounting purposes
  • Research technical accounting and financial reporting requirements by the FASB, AICAP, and other standard setting bodies
  • Monitor and ensure timely identification of, and compliance with new and emerging guidance. Develop and manage implementation project plans as needed, including but not limited to CECL and Leases
  • Identify financial accounting and reporting risk exposure implications that might result from proposed standards. Interpret and propose solutions, including process changes where needed
  • Prepare comprehensive white papers detailing conclusions surrounding GAAP rules and impact to company transactions, where applicable
  • Analyze the impact of alternative accounting treatments for new transactions and perform other accounting impact studies as needed
  • Perform tax research, as needed
  • Serve as backup for certain regulatory reporting (QTL calculation)
  • Assist with audits as needed, including preparing certain schedules

Qualifications (education, work experience, certifications, etc.):

  • Degree in accounting required, Master's preferred
  • CPA a plus, but not required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • 2+ years' experience in public accounting or banking industry
  • Solid communication skills, both written and oral

Licensing/Contract Support and Legal Administrator — Plano, TX

Summary

This position will provide support to the BSC corporate legal department. The employee will be supporting the department with business licensing and registration functions, including daily management of the licensing and business registration database for all entities in the Beal organization. The employee will also maintain the contract database, including contract intake, organization, logging, scanning, and coordination with all Beal Bank entities and departments. In addition to these responsibilities, the individual will also provide support to the corporate attorneys and all the corporate legal department team members in various other functions, such as board meeting preparation and administrative functions as assigned. The employee must have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, maintain highly confidential and personal information of employees, officers, and directors, and provide excellent service to the department's internal customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Attend to business entity filing deadlines for parent company and all subsidiaries
  • Prepare required regulatory and registration documents and reports for various business entities and manage process of obtaining required signatures and checks from accounting for payment of filing fees and legal fees and expenses
  • Manage recordkeeping of MS Access for entity registrations
  • Contract management (from delivery to final approval and scan into OnBase)
  • Assist in preparation of board packages and board meeting preparation
  • Provide additional support to attorneys in various other administrative matters, including backup for other administrative members of the corporate legal team
